Senacor signs framework agreement for core component of the digital Euro.

What does SEPI mean? SEPI is the central token service of the Digital Euro service platform. This component replaces sensitive payment information with secure tokens, so that the data does not need to be transmitted directly.

This ensures the highest security and data protection standards – an essential factor for building trust among users, merchants, and banks in the digital euro.

A specialized expert team from Senacor, together with European cloud service providers, will drive the development of an advanced solution for SEPI.

By deploying the SEPI component, the digital euro will be for banks, payment service providers, and merchants:

– Secure: Customer data remains protected in communication between different participants.

– Highly available: A modern, scalable architecture ensures low latency and maximum availability.

– Future-proof: Establishes the foundation for digital payment methods “made in Europe.”

While the framework agreements set the terms for potential future work, the actual development of the components – or certain parts of them – will be decided at a later stage. Following the framework agreement conclusion, Senacor and other successful tenderers will work with the ECB to finalise planning and timelines.
